Agricultural Specialist
Introduction:
University College of Applied Sciences (UCAS) has received a grant from Oxfam GB under theDanish International Development Agency (DANIDA) funded project entitled: "Economic Recovery in the Gaza Strip: Promoting Choice, Resilience and Dignity- Phase II". This project aims to increase participation in user-driven market systems for female and male small and medium-scale producers, processors and entrepreneurs in the Gaza Strip.Accordingly, UCASseeks the selection and employment of an AgriculturalSpecialistto support the implementation of the project.
Assignment Objective:
UCAS is considering the selection of a highly qualified Agricultural Specialist to be part of the administrative staff responsible for implementing the agriculture activities of the project. The Agricultural Specialist will report to the Project Coordinator.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
TheAgricultural Specialistwill be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
-Develop a clear structure and role of the agriculture development center including the annual operational plan.
-Supervise expanding the use of modern technology and applied learning in agriculture.
-Establish 3 model demonstration sites for students, farmers and open access to agribusinesses includes testing for optimum crops
-Supervise of Incubating 3 agribusinesses to start their own businesses.
-Prepare ToRs for the selection of external consultants whenever needed.
-Ensure the delivery and quality of the expected outcomes from external consultants.
-Participate in designing and implementing the advertising campaigns and outreach activities, by designing targeted marketing tools based on an analysis of the target groups’ preferences and locations.
-Actively supervise and participate in the workshops and events held by the project.
-Participate in solving the obstacles facing the progress of the project.
-Prepare progress reports as required.
-Provide final report about his/her achievements with the teams, recommendations, and challenges s/he faced during the assigned period.
Qualifications& skills:
-Bachelor degree in agriculture or any related field. Master degree is preferable.
-Minimum of 3years' experience in agriculture field, economic empowerment and business development.
-Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders and others contracted in the course of work.
-Strong planning and team work skills.
-Self-motivated anddriven.
-Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
-Excellent computer skills, at a minimum candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
-Fluency in English and Arabic(written and spoken), advanced report writing in English is desired.
Place of work:
University College of Applied Sciences – (Gaza and Khanyouniscampus).
Time Frame: 15 months.
