Internship
Starting date: As soon as possible (for 3-6 months, negotiable)
Duty Station: Ramallah, (full-time or part-time, negotiable)
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Senior Programme Manager of DCAF in Ramallah, the intern will assist DCAF in creating a publically accessible legal database on security sector related legislation in Palestine. His/her duties and responsibilities shall include the following:
Develop a legal database for security sector related legislation
-Participate in conceptualising the legal database project together with a DCAF internal task force
-Assist in updating project documents (project proposal, flowchart)
Update and populate the legal database
-Identify and compile all security sector legislations and executive decisions in Palestine (since the British Mandate)
-Identify the legislations that pertain to issues of good governance (e.g. access to information, public freedoms, etc.)
-Make sure that all legal texts are available in English and Arabic
-Format texts to be published online (on the DCAF Palestine legal database website)
-Upload texts to the legal database website
Promote the legal database in Palestine
-Assist the DCAF internal task force in developing a concept for promoting the database in Palestine
-Assist in implementing activities suggested by the task force (partnering with institutions, promoting the database, etc.)
Develop an address database for DCAF Ramallah
-Assist in developing a process for creating and updating an address database for DCAF Ramallah
-Collect available contacts
-Add contacts to a database
-Advise DCAF on which software to use for creating distribution lists
Requirements:
Education, knowledge and experience
-Being enrolled in a law-related study programme (preferably MA)
-Good knowledge of the Palestinian legal system, including legislations and dynamics
-Experience in working with databases is an asset
-Excellent command of both English and Arabic languages (oral and written)
Skills
-Ability to work with crucial attention to detail
-Ability to work in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams
-Excellent communication skills
-Proven problem-solving skills
-Strong planning and analytical skills
-Ability to work under pressure and towards tight deadlines;
-Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office
-Excellent formatting skills in Microsoft Word
